I saw a news bit today talking about how much cheaper Walmart is compared to Target. I can't help wondering if that has to do with the low wages they pay their employees...and perhaps them encouraging their employees to get government assistance?

Don't forget intentionally understaffing shifts, preferring to have those that are working work harder than to pay for the necessary man hours.

WalMart sucks ass

My dad used to work for a trucking company that dealt with WalMart. He said that WalMart is one of the most ruthless corporations out there. They'll tell a shipping company that if they don't meet their price, then they won't ship anything with them. Because they are so big they can get away with it.

Here's another example: Levi's wanted to sell jeans at WalMart, but Levi's are too "expensive" for WalMart. WalMart said they didn't want to charge more than X dollars and the only way that Levi's could meet that price target was to make some really shitty jeans. They had to make a special product line just for WalMart.

Moral of the story: name-brands at WalMart are not the same as what you would get at another store.

And we won't even talk about what they do to their IT vendors. Yes, they are demanding there also.
