Another fine day at work. My manager came back after being out of town in another office for a conference. She praised me for how I handled myself in addressing the disaster we had on Monday…the one that was partially my fault. That makes me feel good. If I goof, I at least want to recover from it gracefully.

I made some cupcakes for a work potluck today. One our coworkers’ job was eliminated a few weeks back, so we’re sending her off with a fine gathering of sugar, salt, and fat. I made a devil’s food cupcake made from spelt. It turned out quite interesting. I also made red velvet cupcakes, all shaped like roses, in honor of valentine’s day. I made two glazes: butter rum glaze and a powdered sugar/grand marnier glaze. Putting the rum on the red velvet cakes turns them into Redrum velvet cakes!

All good fun.

A note on the south beach diet, my weight loss has stagnated over the past week. Nothing lost, nothing gained. How frickin’ annoying. So, we’ll have a bit of a splurge day here and see what happens. Then it will be back to more strict consumption of food next week.

There was a very bad accident on the freeway last night when I went home. I’m trying to find any news on it, but it shut down the 99 south freeway. It was a pedestrian trying to cross the freeway for reasons unknown. A van hit him, some cars hit the van, the pedestrian got bounced around a few other cars. I sure want to know why he did that. If he wanted to commit suicide, he needs to just take himself out, not drag a bunch of other folks down with him. Well, as one friend said, he got his 15 minutes of fame. And, as I said in response, he made is own red carpet for said fame. Or red asphalt, that is.

ahh the going away potluck... reminds me of.. umm. I think it was a TV show or something. the Manager was all like "hey that was fun, we should do this more often"

was that a commercial? I forget.

I don't remember...sounds like something that should have come from Office Space.

My manager cried, though. She's a sensitive lady. I think it's indicative of some larger scale shady dealings going on. In fact, I had some off the record conversations once that validated my suspicions about my company.
