Notes of things I'd like to do...

-Road trips around the United States. First stop: Portland, OR
-Taking some classes here: http://www.ciachef.edu/enthusiasts/pdf/Adult_Ed_Spr_04.pdf in Hyde Park.
-More trips to Europe, particularly Portugal, Ireland and Scotland next.

Just curious--why Portland? I was born here, and I love it, but I always wonder why someone would choose it.

Well, I have never been there.
Driving there would require me to drive up through country I have not yet driven through.
I've heard beautiful things of Oregon and Portland.
I need to visit the Mecca of bookstores that is Powell's.

Take the coast--it is so beautiful. Although inland takes you by Crater Lake, which is also beautiful.

Portland is a cool city--the riverfront is what ours wants to be when it grows up.

I have always wanted to do a cooking tour of Tuscany--they have weeklong sessions that just sound like so much fun.

Oh, that sounds delightful. Especially after seeing Under the Tuscan Sun.

Those are very good reasons.

Scotland is fun. :)

That's what I am thinking. Which part should I visit first?
