See subject line. That's really about all I have to say here. (Except this: Did you realize that's the Hindu Love Gods playing in the studio version?)

No, I did not. I best find some Hindu Love Gods music. For I do not own any...

Hindu Love Gods...

Warren Zevon + Peter Buck (REM) + Mike Mills (REM) + Bill Berry (REM) = Hindu Love Gods. REM with a different singer, doing blues music.

If you've got the Zevon set I'll Sleep When I'm Dead, the version of Prince's "Raspberry Beret" that's on there is from the album Hindu Love Gods. I think he planned to do more of them with different folks -- the liner notes say "The Hindu Love Gods are (this time)..." But it never happened.

Track listing:

1. Walking Blues
2. Traveling Riverside Blues
3. Raspberry Beret
4. Crosscut Saw
5. Junko Partner
6. Mannish Boy
7. Wang Dang Doodle
8. Battleship Chains
9. I'm a One Woman Man
10. Vigilante Man

It's a bloody brilliant album. One of my all-time favorites, and one of my favorite Zevon works, even though he didn't write a word of it.

You might be able to get a used copy via the Amazon marketplace. They currently have it for $5.99 and then for $19.99 and up, so it's less pricy than, say, Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1. But it's long past time for it to be brought back into print.

(You might be able to find the tracks online and download them, but I never had any luck doing so with Kazaa or Audiogalaxy.)

When he was younger and not so well known, Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini dated my cousin.

Heh

How fun! So how good of a date was he?

How cool that Warren Zevon has a song featuring his name. :-)
