I edited this story Sunday night at work. My question, why didn't the doctors say, "Dude, you're hopped up on pain medicine and you've lost a lot of blood. You're not thinking straight, and you're not making this decision."
You know, one of my few real phobias is any kind of amputation. It just totally squicks me. So not only can I not get behind the guy's decision, but I can't find it funny, because I'm just in a total state of squick.
From what I read, it sounded like the finger might have been a goner anyway, but to LOSE THE FUCKING RING? Jesus Christ, what monkey was working the OR that day? All for nothing. Yikes.
please don't confuse Marines with Soldiers... I know there's only a minute difference in the eyes of the public, but it's a huge one to the boots on the ground :)

But still...he had his finger severed...well, I guess his whole hand is hosed up, so that's the way it goes.
And then it's sad that he even has to be there to lose his hand, anyway.

He's only 19 or 20, so I guess that explains his thinking.
