Food Coops

Elk Grove is getting a natural Food Coop soon. They have an "Owner-Worker" program such that if you volunteer 6 hours a month you get 10% off of the food you buy. Has anyone volunteered at a Food Coop in a similar fashion? What do you think?

I worked at Whole Paychex (er, Foods) in Shallow Alto for a little while. At Palo Alto cost of living, it was *like* volunteering...

I personally rather enjoy getting inside a "real" industry; and you'd definitely find new food ideas if you were helping to stock the shelves (or what-have-you). Plus the customers would likely be interesting to talk to/learn from.

:o)

No, alas. The other white meat. Elk Grove, California.

I did go and volunteer several years ago for the one downtown. Only went a couple of times but it was cool. It was to defer the cost of Mike's and my buyin. You should do it if it interests you.

Maybe you can meet a long-haired hippy boy gone suburb.

Yeah, maybe. ;-) Though with my luck, the hippie boys I'm interested in will be married. ;-)
