Sunday, Bloody Hell

*yawn*

Who has two thumbs and worked 8 hours of overtime today? Our 16 hour power outage went well, largely. But one or two pesky problems took a while to beat into submission.

I do. I'm sleepy and utterly lazy, now. I should do my grocery shopping for the week and think about dinner. I tried staring at my cats for a bit, hoping they would evolve to be skilled in the kitchen and cook for me, but they only wanted me to rub their bellies and massage them.

So, that's out. So much for all that positive thinking they talked about in "What the *bleep* do we know?"

In fact, they are looking at me as if I should prepare their dinner.

Right then, off to take care of chores and then find ways to goof off for what remains of my weekend.

Oh, and the geeky good news?

Old Monitor:

New Monitor:

Bonus points if you know what movie is playing on the new screen. :-)

Madam, your monitor is sooo big. Nice resolution.

Is it Adj from Schoolhouse Rock. When you unpack your adj?

Very nice! And I must say that I love that Dell box.

I would be jealous, but since I'm typing this on my 32-in. screen, I really can't be. ;)

[identity profile] weaktwos.livejournal.com 2006-05-01 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
No, you can't be jealous, at all. :-). Maybe one day I'll hook a computer up to my 51" tv. ;-) It does have a dvi connection....

That will be when I'm ready for a mac mini. :-)

A note of warning. I got a new tv a while ago and hooked it up to my mac mini. but the resolution wasn't quite right. I've not quite got the two of them to work together properly. :(

i was going to try that but i can't imagine it being useful. i think i'll probably do it just to do it someday :-)

Schoolhouse Rock of course! :D

IDIOT-IC
BULL-ISH
STATION-ARY

Oh, I've connected my PowerBook via S-video to my 15-yr-old 40" projection TV many times now. The only annoyance I've had is getting the sound output from the Mac since my TV is so ancient and I haven't felt like crawling behind my receiver for the audio stuff. Even though my laptop is 17" widescreen, I just "detect displays" then "turn on mirroring", then it adjusts the resolution & aspect ratio just dandy. Very helpful for the iPhoto slideshow of what I've done to my house so far when my 91-yr-old grandmother was visiting. :)

wow, i am waaaay jealous :-)i want one :-) what brand and size and how much? is it an LCD monitor or TV (is there a difference at this point besides a tv tuner)?

i know, lotsa questions :-)

[identity profile] weaktwos.livejournal.com 2006-05-03 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Dell 2405fwp (24" wide screen). It's an lcd, no tv tuner.

It was 800 plus tax. But dell's monitors get very high marks.

[identity profile] dangermouse74.livejournal.com 2006-05-03 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
i have one myself from dell, a 19" LCD which makes it hard to justify a new one :-) but i regret now getting one that only does 1280x1024. i want that 1600 :-) i need at least another 2 inches, widescreen would be way cool. and $800 isn't bad really
