Monday roundup

Today went well, as far as Mondays could go, this went swimmingly.

I actually caught up on some projects, which was nice. I always have plenty of work, but I enjoyed the leisurely paced day.

The weekend was really pretty good. Though I seemed to know a lot of people who had a bit of a hard time. Lots of room for contemplation, there.

In the news. There seems to be a bru ha ha over Jill Greenberg and her photo exhibit "End Times". Michelle Malkin is making an issue of it. . Overall, the issue is stupid. Number One, it's not really abusive to make children cry for a few minutes to take the shot. Hell, babies that age already cry at the drop of a hat and then promptly get distracted by a shiny object and move on. Number Two, it's just bad art. It's Anne Geddes gone bad. The photos use some technology that makes the babies look completely Gerber-fied. Now, arguably, it could be said that today's american has the attention span of an instant. We cry for a few moments over the Patriot Act and then we forget about it once we get a lollypop. Some things just aren't worth the controversy.

In other news, Kentucky is the home to a Creation Museum. They should merge with Ripley's Believe it or Not.

While I was driving home from having coffee with [livejournal.com profile] taogrl, I saw some protesters at the corner of Broadway and Land Park Drive. They've been holding anti-war protests there for quite a while now. Saturday was quite a show, however, since they had bongo drums along with inane signage.

List folks, I'm against the war, too. And so is most everyone who lives in Land Park, since it's laden with liberals. You're preaching to the frackin' choir, people. Go out to Roseville where the sport utility vehicles cruise down the boulevard and the white conservatives reign supreme.

I agree with everything except this: the parents should be backhanded. Yeah, babies cry a lot. But any parent willing to make their child cry for the purposes of some photo is missing a gene. That's why new parents get all floopy when the baby cries. You get over that much, but you never TRY to make your child cry, photo or no. I'd never have agreed to it in a hundred years.

Yeah, I'm not sure why they agreed, except to have some resume for their children being models, or something. It's wacky.

In the paper on Sunday, it was saying that Cindy Sheehan was there. The photo looked about the time we were driving by.

But if some wacko in Roseville ran over a greenie with their Hummer, it'd be just too fodderific, ya know...
