Fun with the Independent Film Channel

Forget the fact that it was my mother who informed me that the Henry Rollins show was on the film channel. Yes, it turns out my progenitor is up on Henry Rollins more than I. Moving on...

I do enjoy his show, and now I know where his little film essays come from. (I never said I wasn't slow).

But in case anyone else was as out of the loop as I was, consider taking a peek at the show. He'll definitely have some perspectives that can start a conversation.

I also saw an ad for an upcoming series on IFC, premiering August 5th called the "Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodman". Why am I looking forward to it? Laura Kightlinger created it, as well as stars in it. I often enjoy a lot of her work, so I'm looking forward to see what she does with this show.

In other news, I'm happy that season three of Dr. Who has started on Sci Fi network here in the states. And yes, I was too lazy to bitorrent the series in order to see it before it was aired.

I also understand that Torchwood will be coming to BBC America later this year. I'm just not sure when.

In other other news, Talledega Nights is rather amusing, in my opinion. Catch it when you need some fun humor. An amusing snippet:
Ricky Bobby: Are you asking me for a divorce?!?
His two sons, overhearing this: Yayyyy! Two Christmas'!

The last time I saw a date for Torchwood's premiere on BBC America I think it was September 22, but I'm keeping an eye out. The Henry Rollins show is another reason I will finally be giving in and shelling out the bucks for the extra cable channels; I've actually known about it since shortly before it started, but yes I am that cheap. But the first season is available on Netflix now!

Two reasons I wish my cable package came with IFC: Rollins yelling at people and interviewing awesome dudes. Also Dinner for 5 where Jon Favreau has a round table discussion for a half hour with 4 people over dinner. Even if one person tends to dominate the discussion (Alec Baldwin, Burt Reynolds I'm looking at you). Of course that did lead to Favreau and Reynolds both to discuss what working in a football movie with real players is like...

The ads I saw this weekend state that it starts on BBCAmerica on 9/6, which I suspect is about when the latest season of the doctor concludes on scifi.

If you are also a fan of Henry's spoken-word shows, he's coming to the Crest in November. Tix are available at the box office and at tickets.com starting July 12th. I had the pleasure of seeing him live a year or two ago and was on the floor with laughter. The man is brilliant - and not too bad to look at either :)

Woot! Thanks for the heads up!

You're welcome! I should actually thank you because due to one of the comments above, I now have added the Henry Rollins Show DVDs to my queue in Netflix. I didn't know they were available until just now.
