Writer's strike continued

A number of folks are starting to get angry over the Writer's Strike. People who perhaps need to read a little more about economics or predatory business practices.

I say, keep going until the studios break, Writers!

The rest of us may have to get out of the house and...communicate with others in the mean time. Remember that one Simpson's episode where Itchy and Scratchy was cancelled for a while, and families did more together, neighbors came together and socialized. Children played outside....

I heard a scary rumor that if the strike goes on too long we're going to be reduced to watching solely reality TV. *shudder*

That is an excellent article.

The thing that I find most pressing about the current strike is, I'm a member of that next generation of writers he's speaking of.

I don't really watch a whole lot of TV, so for me the hit of the strike is the long-term aftermath, not the short-term impact that everyone else will have to suffer through.

On the other hand, I bet iTunes and NetFlix make a mint as people go online in search of things to watch.

Some of the talk-show hosts, who take the first impact of the strike, are already talking about hiring strike-breakers. For them, the show must go on.

We'll see how well they do, and how they fair after the strike is over.
