...Cliff Anderson lamenting with fellow faculty that it was getting harder and harder, in their opinion, to develop creative ideas for research in Philosophy. I don't know if they are right, but in the Economics field, it looks like they are travelling far, as some students performed a study on which AC/DC singer was better (by virtue of aiding listeners to become more efficient while listening).
Here's a little food for thought on women and investing. It seems true around my office that women tend to be more afraid of investing than men. Don't be! Any ladies on my friends list afraid or unsure where to start investing?
For fanboys and fangirls: Kristin Bell will be on Heroes!
Oh, my red beans and rice are ready, gotta dash!

The most successful movie franchises. Harry Potter is #3, behind two other franchises that span decades.
What's this about Karl's "adoptive father"? It is now in the process of being validated, but could this explain the Karl factor? Was it all about Pop's pierced pen-personality?
Stephen King confirms there will be a Dark Tower Movie, with JJ Abrams and Damon Lindelof at the helm! Woohoo! (ETA: that article was from February of this year, and I forgot to check the date. I'm curious why Digg dug this up now...)
In other news, I tested out the demo on Xbox 360 for Bioshock. Pretty fun game. However, I get woozy if I play it for too long. Which means longer than 20 minutes.
Mary-Louise Parker had a role in the West Wing. I had forgotten. She fit right in with the cast. She and Josh Lyman had some fine, fine chemistry.

A post by
lowflyingsquab brought me to this Wikipedia entry on the Khmer Rouge this morning. This is what happens when people unite under a nutty group of leaders. The ring leaders lived and learned in Paris, the city of love, for chrissakes. This makes me so angry.
With regard to garlic and cholesterol, researchers have some bad news. Ah well. I still love garlic.
Here's a sad case of welfare fraud. The article says this woman collected 280,000 in government benefits for 20 years by having her children pretend they were disabled. Assuming she got equal amounts of funding each year, that was about 14,000 per year. Jesus. If you're smart enough to fraud the goverment for 20 years, one would think that you would be smart enough to get a real job, and make more money. Still, I despise welfare cheats. Not as much as I disdain nutty communist leaders, but still, I dislike people who lie and cheat for money, which means that someone who honestly needs the funding probably didn't get it.
In lighter news, new Engrish T-shirts!
