Hey folks, this just came through via the [livejournal.com profile] tivolovers community:

Weakknees is selling Humax Tivos for as low as $49. Key in this is that they are still offering the $299 lifetime fee. I was able to grandfather my lifetime fee when I upgraded my Tivo, so this is a great way to get at this lifetime subscription.

Motley Fool comments on some personnel changes in TiVo's financial wing.

The new Ad Hoc CFO is seasoned in preparing companies for sale. Hmmm.

Slink Link

My Sling Link Turbo arrived yesterday. Until it had arrived, I was using a really long cat V cable to get my Slingbox pro on the network.

Hooking up the slinklink was super easy. and everything came right up. My Series 3, My Xbox 360, and my Slingbox are attached to it.

Watching TV via the sling is great, however, the fun really starts when I stream my music collection from my desktop, via the Tivo, via slingbox player. All my songs are slowed down. It sounds pretty funny.

Here's their video for Valencia.

In other news, I had to erase and reset my old series 2(Bertrand) has been recording the wrong channel, even though it displays the correct channel information. I hope that fixes the problem. I don't quite understand what was causing the problem at this time. I'm thinking there was a rogue element of old DirectTV service somewhere, even though I couldn't find it. Once shows start recording, we'll see if it's stabilized.

My mother called to tell me about Riches, a new show on F/X with Minnie Driver and Eddie Izzard. So far it is entertaining, if for no reason but that I enjoy Minnie and Eddie.

I'm streaming CSPAN on Low video action over not wifi, but edge on my cell phone. I'm streaming video at about 160-170 kbps. High definition is real clunky, but regular cable is pretty awesome.

I awoke this morning to a slightly raw throat. The one someone gets with excessive post nasal drainage. I'm feeling a bit wrong in the sinuses, with an unsavory runny nose to boot.

So, it's time to drop some Airborne, and other vitamins, as well as some sudafed.

I'm watching the Asia channel on Comcast and there is some show about a South Asian Swimsuit Calendar.

Last night was spent watching an episode of Six Feet Under, drum practice, and some more reading of Bill Moyer's Genesis.

I found a new Podcast from Pandora on some music recording and some basic music theory stuff. I think for a beginner, this is a pretty cool thing.

[livejournal.com profile] zonereyrie is reporting on Tivo's booth at CES 2007. For those who are interested in the Comcast/Tivo collaboration, check it out.

Time to get ready for work.

How's your day going?

Stage 1 of the root canal is complete. I go in for my next appointment next Monday at 10:30. Right now I'm in a Starbucks waiting for the novacaine to wear off before I venture into the office. The upper right side of my mouth is inoperable. The sensation drives me crazy. But if it means I feel no pain while the dentist drills into my tooth, files out my dead nerve and plugs it back up again, so be it.

I had to get some gasoline this morning, so while I was doing my thang at the pump, somebody pulls up with the most annoying R&B music playing. Is it just me, or do the people who pump gasoline while their stereo is blaring only R&B fans? Well, when I turned to look, it was a fellow on a motorcycle that was causing the ruckus. really ,radios on motorcycles should only work on ear plugs. Sheesh. The fellow looked like Isaac Hayes, and he had a leather jacket that said "Suga" on the back.

The feeling is slowly returning to my right side of my mouth. Each tooth feels like it's waking up. One in particular is going to be very unhappy, soon.

In other news, I have some troubleshooting to do with my old series 2 Tivo. I turned on the tv the other day and got no signal. Black screen, with updated schedule info. I thought it was a problem with my direct tv. so I unplug stuff and start plugging it back in. I get satellite signal, but I can't get a clear picture, now. It's like a hybrid of the tivo screen and the direct tv signal. I've tried reseating connections and moving things about, but no love. I'll start over again tonight perhaps, but I'm concerned that the RL V inputs for my tivo are failing.

I took my InstantCake Discs and my Seagate 300gb hard drive into work and used one of our spare pcs to perform the upgrade. Unlike my attempts at home, it worked flawlessly. The big difference on this is that ide cables are a little different. Of course the computers at work are more recent. But the process was vastly different than with my old pcs at home. Odd.

I am currently waiting for the DirectTivo to finish its "clear and delete everything process.

Then we'll see about getting a network adaptor to work, and getting the tivo on the network. Oh, and creating all the season passes.

My secret desire to marry my Tivo continues to flourish. Last night I found out that I can, from my television, access tivo recordings I pulled down to my computer. It essentially brings back a copy to the Tivo Hard drive. I like it. I like it lots.

[livejournal.com profile] tivolovers is keeping tabs on the CES in Vegas, as well as Tivo Series 3 information. [livejournal.com profile] zonereyrie is also keeping an eye on misinformation that might be coming out about the Series 3, as well.

I personally am looking forwared to the Series 3. HD quality, more storage, expandability. I'm all over it. By the end of the year, this will be my new toy. Yes, it will. However, if it's not compatible with my series 2. I'll be miffed.
