First off, welcome [livejournal.com profile] raven and [livejournal.com profile] teeny_charib.

Now, ideally, I should be spending my final waking hours this evening doing some chores. I have been quite the decadent little monkey this weekend. Well, decadent and extremely nerdy.

Friday:
I did not have Friday off like I usually do, but I had an interesting conversation with someone, which I will divulge eventually, I suppose, but that incident was minor to the weekend.

After work, I rushed home and made some hors d'oeuvres and finished straightening up the home for guests. Three fellow Potter fans came over and we watched the Chamber of Secrets while munching and chatting.

Our intent was to hit the bookstore and score all my preordered books waiting for me. I had pre-ordered 22 books. I had also called ahead to find out the drill. I was told that people started lining up at 10pm. No big deal, I thought, I'm not concerned about the line, I'm just interested in getting my books.

Due to the movie, we did not show up until 11pm. Apparently, they stopped letting people into the store by then. I was miffed. But, such is life. My friends and I returned home and consoled ourselves with a cardgame called "Wizard".

Saturday
I got up, and went to Borders to retrieve my books. I was a little crispy and cranky, but oh well. I only waited in line for 35 minutes. I spent the rest of the afternoon reading and doing things around the house. I was on call on that day, and planning to attend a party in Cupertino was on the risky side. But I had my laptop ready to rumble, so I felt reasonably prepared.

At three pm, I left for Cupertino. My first endeavor was to acquire pre-road trip gasoline. My favorite gas station was shut down, police were present, as was the fire department. I was concerned that this could be foreboding for the day. I ended up seeing five accidents on the road on my way to Cupertino. I am so very happy I was not involved in one.

I arrived at the party with 18 harry potter books in tow for the party members. They were very appreciative that I did this for them. But it was no big deal, I was already waiting in line. The costumes were great. My friend's decorations were fantastic. The biggest success, I think, was her Nerf Quidditch field. She built goals using pvc pipe and flexible tubing in threes placed on both ends of the field. She had nerf balls, nerf beaters, and a fishing rod with a nerf golden snitch with little wings.

We were sorted into houses and play begain. I was the Seeker for Gryffindor. While the quidditch teams fought it out, Britta would dangle the snitch over our heads on occasion. It was quite silly and hilarious. We got grass stains. We lost the ball over the fence. I finally caught the golden snitch. And, for the Potter trivia experts, I jammed the snitch in my mouth. Hopefully someone got footage of that.

I left the party and headed to Woodland by about 11pm to give my friends who were denied books on Friday. I arrived just in time for drinks and another game of Wizard, and fine conversation. Also, I brought cheer to my friends, who lit up with excitement upon receipt of their books.

I went home, tired and content.

All quite fun.
