To preface a passage with, "I've been doing some thinking..." implies that, at least since the last time one said as such, that one hasn't been thinking lately. It also may indicate that the thinking one is about to disclose may be, in fact, anti-climactic and lackluster in nature. This is due to the fact that one is out of practice, since one doesn't think too often.

Just a thought. Now back to my regularly scheduled thinking.

I just joined bookcrossing, after having been referred to it by a kind person in bookish. I came a cross a book that was released into the wild while in the Naked Lounge coffee house. It's such a nifty concept.
