Today's Lesson: Pliny the Elder
Jun. 5th, 2002 01:54 amI must confess, my Roman history is lacking. Apparently this guy was quite the scholar. Upon investigation, his real name was Plinius Secundus. That sounds much better than "Pliny". Pliny is a great name for a clown, not for a Roman Scholar. But that's just my opinion.
I find this passage, written by Pliny the Younger, to be somewhat interesting.
Pliny the Elder died during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Notice the passage doesn't say how he died, though. I think he pissed his toga in fear.
