Well, I'm safely in London, and having a blast. Right now, I'm sleep deprived, as I haven't slept much since 8am Sunday morning. We passed the sun and ran into it again on this third of the planet. We opted not to sleep, but to press on and see the city.

We arrived by 8:30, made it through customs and took the Gatwick Express into Victoria Station. We hopped the London Underground to Bayswater, found our hotel.

Riddle me this: What's green, yellow, and fits in your pocket? Our hotel room. It's a trip. We're space wasters in America, that's for sure. Despite it's matchbook size, the ceiling seems like it's 30 feet high. Maybe tall, thin aliens lived here.

After we settled in, we took off for coffee and postcard writing. If anyone wants a postcard from me, send me your address via email. :-)

Following our postcard tasks, we trotted off to Kensington Gardens. What a sanctuary that is! The main streets of London are bustling with cars and people. I nearly got hit once on the road. If you dally too much in the Tube, you're liable to get trampled by brits of various ethnic origin. We ended up walking all over Kensington Gardens. Prince Albert's memorial is quite impressive.

Another note: Everyone is rather polite here. Even the dogs are well behaved. And when they beckon their dogs, they don't shout meanly. They politely admonish their pets. Even with the hustling crowd, it's more quiet here than in America.

After Kensington, we headed to Soho for some Sushi. It was all very tasty, and only £27 for two persons.

Then it was time to hit a pub and have a Guinness on draft. They do seem tastier over here! I'm no expert, and maybe I'm full of shite, but it doesn't quite taste as bitter, aftertaste-wise.

Ms. Tao couldn't make an international call home to her parents, so we're here at an internet cafe using email. There are Internet cafe's everywhere.

So far, for the rest of the week, we have the Thames to see, the British Museum and a flamenco guitar concert, a matinee of Les Miserables. But, we still have plenty of time

Day Two

Today's special lesson, boys and girls involves day passes on the London Underground. I don't know why we didn't ask about this yesterday, but unlimited tube-usage for only £4.10 is quite a bar-gain.
