Jul. 31st, 2003 01:08 pmMy world: is pretty damned good. I had my home full of friends and good cheer last night. I cooked more ravioli for them and we consumed them. I also made a simple salad of balsamic, shallots, mushrooms, herbs and olive oil.
I dropped off Maximus to my Vet amigo to take to an eye appointment in Berkeley. She promised free vet care for the lad, so I’m taking her up on it. He’ll be gone for two days, because I couldn’t get Max to her at a convenient time today.
Sascha is much more cuddly since Max is gone. I wonder if Sascha is just a born non-alpha male. He just doesn’t want affection in front of other cats. Or other people, for that matter. I wonder what that’s all about. Max never had a problem. If he wants cuddles, he crawls up and demands them.
Not being awoken by having my nose or ears licked by Max was rather nice.
Stress and Work: some of my coworkers are being eaten alive by fear and stress. Yes, they are being let go. But you know what? Nothing is permanent AND they are getting a good severance. One coworker was in tears today. Why do people choose to let such things torture them? It’s a rare thing to get a job you truly truly love 100% of the time. Our jobs are primarily geared so we can get money to do what we really love, be it play games, enjoy the outdoors, travel, drink, whatever. One would think that in light of the fact that layoffs are imminent for your particular job that corporate is making changes that render your soon-to-be ex-job into pure crap, you would be thrilled that you will be leaving with several grand in your pocket. What an opportunity to get to find a new job, qualify for unemployment, and get a little extra on the top! And you want to let these changes eat your insides so you can spend the rest of your tenure being miserable and emotional? It’s time to re-evaluate thyself.
The more things change at work that make no sense, the less I care.
