Ours went to eleven
Jul. 5th, 2004 09:55 amThis weekend has been fairly pleasant. Behold the recap:
Saturday:
The day was a mix of good and not so good. My mother was over spending the night, but there were a few moments when I got annoyed and she got hurt feeling. But that's par for the course. She enjoyed the homemade burgers I made. The plan was to have the burgers stuffed with bleu cheese and cheddar (huntsman's cheese). However, I had an accident with the cheese. I left it out all night, and it was rather soft and gooey, and Mom refused to eat it.
Instead, I took some cheddar cheese and sauteed some onions, and stuffed my freshly ground beef with those. Very tasty.
We saw a few movies, as well: "The Story of the Weeping Camel", and "Spiderman 2".
Both movies were fantastic for different reasons. "Weeping Camel" was a touching and informative story about a family that lives in the Gobi desert in Mongolia and their endeavors to make a Mother camel accept her newborn camel-calf.
And you all know what Spiderman 2 is about. I simply loved it. Oh, how I loved it.
Sunday came, my mother departed after a breakfast of scones and eggs, and I proceeded to dismantle my drum kit and pack it up for a party in Woodland.
I also brought 3 lbs. of my ground beef and acquired bleu cheese and fireworks.
I picked up a friend who needed a ride and then shuffled off to Woodland.
We had a delightful time. My time keeping on the drums is improving, as well as my abilities to "improv" some beats. Don't get me wrong, I have a long way to go, but there is some imrpovement. We jammed out:
-Shorter Side of Nothing, Los Lobos
-Under the Milky Way Tonight - The Church
-She's a Beauty- The Tubes
-Breakdown-Tom Petty
-Leaving Las Vegas-Sheryl Crow
-numerous other less coherent songs.
Fireworks were amusing. We used a new firework this year called "eyeballs". They are rather fun, but slow to start. At first we thought they were a dud, but then we ended up jumping back when they exploded quite nicely. I think those fellas have some good bang for their buck.
I finally rolled into bed around 2am. I woke up at 9am this morning, and now I'm feeling a bit crispy. I've got a load of laundry in, and I think I shall bathe and fire up the coffee machine.
I hope everyone's fourth was a great one!
