Jul. 27th, 2004 05:50 pmThe end of my workday draws near. I am somewhat tired today. I still have my gym visit before me. Today will be low impact cardio on the elliptical trainer and weights. Tomorrow, more intense workout awaits.
My manager's boss has been here for two days. She bought us lunch; that was nice. I wonder what bombshell shall drop in a few days.
Materialism:
I have ordered some stuff online. I await:
-A Bill Hicks CD set that includes
Arizona Bay
Dangerous
Rant in e Minor
Relentless
Love Laughter & Truth
Live from Pittsburgh
It was cheaper on ebay to buy that set than to buy all the discs individually on Amazon. So I bit.
-Hero, the Director's cut.(From Hong Kong! Ergo, I'll see it next year)
-The Curry Book (So begins my good curry education)
-Outfoxed on DVD($10 on Amazon)
More materialism:
My cell phone (SprintPCS) is showing signs of unreliability. I'm not really needing a cell phone yet, but when I do, I want to get a Nextel. Why? It has the walkie talkie feature on it.(aka, Direct Connect). Sprint has an alternative called Ready Link, but I have a lot of friends who have Nextel, with direct connect, and it would be more fun to use the walkie talkie feature. This is terrible. I don't really need this service. It's a stupid little want.
Emotional Mindset:
My singlehood continues. In a way, that's an intentional state. I really don't want to get involved with someone until I can see them as a really close friend. By that time, I pretty much know who they are and can, hopefully, accept who they are. I grew so tired of realizing that I was dating a big wuss with more incompatible neuroses that I could comprehend. And then there's the need for passion, for that attraction that goes beyond friendship. It's a good thing I don't like to hold my breath for what I want.
Maybe I'm just too self-centered.
Perhaps tonight I'll knock back a few drinks and practice drums. I need to loosen up when I play and resist the urge to overthink while I play.

Tuesday Night
Jul. 27th, 2004 09:44 pmUpon arriving home, I walked to Cost Plus imports and acquired some ramikins for some creme brulee I'll be making for a party this Saturday.
They have Cafe du Monde Beignet mix and coffee and chicory!
I enjoyed the evening walk, in addition to my workout. It was mildly cool, with a breeze blowing, enough light to see, but not enough to blind. Quiet contemplation and a little shopping.
Now I'm on the sofa, watching the democratic convention coverage on msnbc.
Sprintpcs is pissing me off with their website. It's always on the frickin' blink. Foo!
