Today went by rather quickly. It started with a late wake-up due to improper alarm operation and followed by a whirlwind of work in the morning, then I attended a financial planning seminar offered by my company.

As much as I've been a little disappointed in several of the choices my company has made, this service they are providing is quite helpful. The service will help me to choose ideal investment risks for planning for my retirement, as well as formulate budget projections for debt reduction and building the various savings accounts I want:

-The emergency fund (6 months of my salary, which I nearly have complete)
and
-The travel fund

After work, I swung by the comic shop and picked up my comics...I'm caught up to Fallen Angel (up to episode 15), and I'm done with issue 27 of Fables. Then it was off to the gym, and a few other errands.

At home, I ended up piddling about the evening with reading comics and talking with friends.

From the "scratch my eyes out" department, a subsidiary of the "Two hours you'll never get back" consortium: I watched "Gigli". It was a train wreck I needed to watch. Oh yes, I agree. It did suck. Ohhh, it sucked.

'Nuff said.

Now, to bed.

So, last night was rather noteworthy in that I actually remembered the dreams I had. Well, one lengthy dream.
I was on vacation with [livejournal.com profile] taogrl and two other unrecognized friends. We went to some old village in Scotland. Of course, I wouldn't know what an old village in Scotland actually looked like, but the imagery my brain was feeding me was akin to Stratford on Avon.
Events of oddness:

  • I kept taking pictures with this old 35mm type camera. And I only brought one roll of film. I wondered where my canon elph digital cam was, and lamented bringing one roll of film. (Interpretation: I want a new camera)
  • I bought a life-sized statue of a Scot in a kilt. For 21 bucks. (Interpretation: I know I love Scotsmen in kilts, but huh?)
  • Our rental car was a buggy pulled by two non-standard beasts(I think they had human heads). I wouldn't let anyone else drive. Nor would the beasts, apparently. They attacked a few folks who tried to drive the buggy unattended. I remember feeling concerned as to why these beasts liked me and attacked others. (Interpretation: No idea)
  • [livejournal.com profile] taogrl bought the plane used to haul all our souvenirs (including the life-sized Scot statue!)
  • upon our return home, we were standing out in the open air. I looked to the sky and saw Suzanne's plane arriving home. I had wondered who she had contracted to pilot the plane, and why we weren't on it. It was an Aloha Airlines plane. It began to crash. It just flipped over and began falling from the sky, like a bug dying in mid-air. My vision of the plan zoomed out an in. That was odd. But was was completely calm. I tapped [livejournal.com profile] taogrl's shoulder. I said, "Look at that." She said, "Fuck!". And I just watched, knowing that our countryside was about to be marred, and a devastating tragedy was about to occur. The plane seemed to float down. I knew I was dreaming because I heard no sound at that point, and I expect such large, bulky planes carrying my cheesy Scotsmen statue would fall a bit faster.

And then I woke up.

My driver's license is up for renewal. I renewed it today. Thankfully, I did not have to retake the test. I did, however, have to get my photo taken. Did I think of that when I got dressed this morning? No. I forgot to engage in the requisite extra coifing. Now I shall be stuck with a goofy photo.

I should have hammed it up like a madwoman, but nooo.

Well, my last picture was pretty nice, so this one should balance that out quite nicely.

Fables

I'm reading issue #28 of Fables. A new storyline has arrived, as well as a new artist and inker. Initially, I didn't like the artwork, but for the "Band of Brothers" feel they appear to be trying to convey, it turned out to be workable.
