Sep. 21st, 2004 09:44 pmGive the fact that I have to return to work tonight for a replacement of one of our UPS batteries, I am currently sitting at the bar at Brew it Up, enjoying one of their Vanilla Stouts. Not bad.
First, a very happy birthday to
dawneywawney! By the time you read this, it will have been the day after your birthday. Therefore, your birthday has been extended an extra day.
So, what lingers on my mind today?
First, I have a little website project to work on by Thursday. So that occupies the noggin. Work was rather busy today, but that is nothing new. I am getting things done, however, and that carries a certain degree of satisfaction.
Yesterday, I acquired some malt, hops and yeast for a little Braggot brewing session that
modeleccentric and I will be engaging in, along with anyone else he chooses to invite over.
My week of stalking Richard Shindell begins in about 5 days. I have tickets to his Sunday Night and Monday Night concert at Freight and Salvage in Berkeley. Then, on Wednesday night, he performs again in Winters at the Opera House. Yes, I'm psycho. But, his music is awesome, the tickets are reasonable ($18), and this is the first time I'll have the opportunity to see how a performer changes his set for different audiences, or just for the sake of variation for his own edification. The good news is that
taogrl will join me for the Winters concert. "B to the izzo", the gent who introduced me to Shindell, will be joining me for the Berkeley trips. I will have an few afternoons to bounce around Berkeley, and for that I am gleeful. Perhaps I will make a trek into the city on Monday afternoon to see a museum, assuming they are open. Somehow, I suspect they are not. Regardless, I will have plenty of shiny objects to satisfy my short attention span ways.

The replacement of the UPS batteries for our Conversant system did not go quite well as planned. Excerpts from my report to management:
"Avaya will have to take a Mulligan on this trouble call."
"At least the replacement of the UPS has upgraded the alarms from Major to Minor. Still, there remains a red light on the Charge Fault LED, and an amber light on the Low battery LED. These lights, combined with existing green LEDs make the Conversant unit more festive, but I digress."
Now to finish some homework.
