Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Nov. 25th, 2004 08:36 amIf given enough time, I could be thankful for quite a lot.
But I'll start with the fact that I'm thankful that I woke up early enough to get up and get going with the cooking tasks, despite going to bed so late. After finishing my pie and giblet duties last night, I indulged in a little gaming action. Before I knew it, it was 2:30am. Whoops. There are two turkeys in this house this morning.
I am most certainly thankful for being alive and well without any debilitating maladies. Most of my serious medical conditions occured before I was the age of five (double congenital hernia, dislocated hip, chronic ear infections, pneumonia, eczema). I can't remember experiencing most of it. I'm thankful for that, as well. And really, was I doing anything better at the time? No. But I doubt my mother is thankful for having to tend to all those conditions. I think she's still traumatized by the time she went to visit me in the hospital room after my hernia operation, and I was missing. She finally found me at the nurse's station, in my feetsie pajamas and with my favorite blankey , trying to get them to play a game of cards with me.
Good times.
I'm thankful for being gainfully employed, and able to support myself in the way I wish to be supported.
I'm thankful for all my friends and the wonderful memories they have created with me.
I'm thankful for my sense of humor. Seriously, even my car accidents have a punchline.
I'm thankful for my two cats, one of whom is giving me the stink eye for some reason right now. I'm thinking he's sizing up the cuddling opportunities right now.
I'm thankful for the obstacles that I had the opportunity to overcome.
I hope everyone is warm, safe, and content on this day!
