In New York City, rats bite about 311 people in an average year. However, 1,519 residents are bitten annually by other New Yorkers.

Also, some research indicates that the rat population is 12 times that of the New Yorker population.

I'm on my layover here in Vegas. The first flight went well. I brought some books with me for my trip. The "Flight Out" book is "Down Here" by Andrew Vachss. I started reading it a while ago, then was dazzled by other shiny literary objects. I'll be finishing this book on this trip, me thinks. 'Tis a good read. But then, some of you already knew that.

You scored as alternative. You're partially respected for being an individual in a conformist world yet others take you as a radical. You have no place in society because you choose not to belong there - you're the luckiest of them all, even if your parents are completely ashamed of you. Just don't take drugs ok?

I'm back in my hotel room. Andy, my coworker from Phoenix, and I went to a place called "Duke's" for dinner. It's...meh. Oh well. It was an inexpensive meal.

Now I'm back in my room. I'm tired. I hate how flying takes so much energy out of me. It's only 6pm back home. Sheesh.

I might just be in for the rest of the night, unless I get my second wind. But for sure, I'm hanging out and listening to the lovely and talented [livejournal.com profile] ariedana's radio cast. Go here, if you want to give her a listen.

Good job, [livejournal.com profile] ariedana! Of course, I'm not a sports fan, but I think you held your own in the sports conversation.

In other news, while waiting for my coworker at the airport, I had a new people watching experience. I saw a couple that was extremely in love, entranced, and lip-locked. It's not frequent that I see such a passionate couple that is well passed the teens or early 20s engaged in each other thusly. But I've also never seen a couple that featured the male in a wheelchair with no legs.

And there's nothing wrong with that; I'm glad they are both happy and in love, but it did look kind of awkward. It did make me wonder if there were some efficiencies to be gained by having two less legs in the formation of the beast with two backs. Also, I wondered, assuming this couple ends up tongue-wrestling and embracing in other public venues, if Mr. Legless ever forgot to lock his wheelchair, creating a lovely demonstration of the law of inertia, and one big concrete kiss for the girlfriend.
