My Christmas cards are sent out!

I've received cards from [livejournal.com profile] phinnia and [livejournal.com profile] yansa and [livejournal.com profile] kickadee. Lovely cards, folks! Thank you!

I'm not sure how the postal service is doing on Christmas cards, but my cards may very well end up late, thus extending your Christmas revelry by a few days.

Some of you received wax seals with my last initial on the back of the envelope. When I started accidentally setting things on fire, I gave up on that practice. Eventually, I shall become more savvy in wax seal usage.

I read a very interesting short story this morning.

I hope everyone's day is going well!

Take the quiz: "What does your birth month reveal about you?"

Loves to chat. Loves those who loves them. Loves to takes things at the center. Inner and physical beauty. Lies but doesn'tpretend. Gets angry often. Treats friends importantly. Always making friends. Easily hurt but recovers easily. Daydreamer. Opinionated. Does not care of what others think. Emotional. Decisive. Strong clairvoyance. Loves to travel, the arts and literature. Touchy and easily jealous. Concerned. Loves outdoors. Just and fair. Spendthrift. Easily influenced. Easily loses confidence. Loves children.

Lies, but doesn't pretend. Hmmm...nah. Whoever wrote these descriptions was in a hurry. I think they put phrases on a dart board and just added whatever the dart landed on.

Bill Moyers spoke recently at the Center for Health and The Global Environment at Harvard Medical School. His speech, as always, was fascinating. You can read its entirety here.

I can't recall if someone else on my friends list already posted this. It's awfully good.

One of the biggest changes in politics in my lifetime is that the delusional is no longer marginal. It has come in from the fringe, to sit in the seat of power in the Oval Office and in Congress. For the first time in our history, ideology and theology hold a monopoly of power in Washington. Theology asserts propositions that cannot be proven true; ideologues hold stoutly to a world view despite being contradicted by what is generally accepted as reality. When ideology and theology couple, their offspring are not always bad but they are always blind. And there is the danger: voters and politicians alike, oblivious to the facts.

You'll briefly be the centerpiece of all creation when the guiding force of the universe remembers that it hasn't hit anyone with lightning in a long time.

Sweet!
