Oof. Today was busy. We had some big execs visiting from our home office. I seldom enjoy those visits, and yet I do. Anyway, it was a draining day, exacerbated by the sensation that I didn't get as much done as I wanted to.

My friend T wants me to do a cake decorating class with her starting April 28th for four weeks at Michael's. I think I shall do that.

I apparently decided to annoy myself by reading articles and watching TV to piss me off.

To start, apparently companies like Horizon Milk, that advertise themselves as being organic, don't quite live up to the organic image.

I watched Frontline tonight. It was on Karl Rove. Good lord, he's a non-religious guy who managed to capitalize on the evangelicals. He was treating the political campaign like a marketing department. His whisper campaigns against McCain and Richards, and other candidates, culminating in the Swiftboat vets is infuriating.

After reading a number of articles, I find myself wondering why evangelicals felt persecuted due to their beliefs? I think it was due in no small part to folks like Rove who fed upon those beliefs, plus the notion that others' lack of faith is an affront to the religious right.

I've been thinking about animal rights relative to use of animals for food and clothing. Because, of course, I love meat. Love it. I like seafood, poultry, pork, beef. An equal opportunity enjoyer of meats. In order to enjoy such meats, and not have to slaughter my own animals, I have to accept that the animals that I eat and whose hides I use for purses, jackets, wallets and footwear probably did not have a happy existence before being killed, gutted, sliced, diced, tanned and canned.

There's something of a predatory instinct among humans, I think. Just as one watches a cat hunt down a mouse, we have our own way of hunting others and hunting each other.

We also have a fondness for cute animals, as a whole. A number of species kill, and kill frequently, but the seal clubbing seems to traumatize us a great deal. On killing cute fuzzies, this is interesting.
