Well, at long last, the autopsy report is complete. Friends [livejournal.com profile] lunza and [livejournal.com profile] dslartoo have provided some helpful links:

Here's Fox News' coverage.
There is a link to the autopsy pdf on Fox's site, as well

Here's CNN's coverage.

The evidence is rather substantial that she was beyond repair. There was no way, she was going to function beyond her persistant vegetative state. It's hard to say if her soul was trapped in her body, or if had already moved on. I hope, if souls can transcend the physical body, that she left years ago.

Priests for Life had this to say:
Autopsy Does Not Change Moral Aspects of Terri Schiavo’s Murder says Priest Who Was With Terri Moments Before Her Death

Fr. Frank Pavone, who was with Terri Schiavo in the final hours and moments of her life and has called her death a murder, issued the following statement upon today’s release of her autopsy report:

"No details of this autopsy change the moral evaluation of what happened to Terri. Her physical injuries and disabilities never made her less of a person. No amount of brain injury ever justifies denying a person proper humane care. That includes food and water.

"A person with a 'profoundly atrophied' brain needs profound care and love. Terri did not die from an atrophied brain. She died from an atrophy of compassion on the part of her estranged husband and those who helped him to have her deliberately killed."

Okay, Priests o' Compassion. All evidence that did not involve wishful thinking on the part of her parents pointed to her not being abused in anyway, and that she was not going to recover. She never improved during treatment, etc. and so forth. So, tell me why it is more compassionate to keep her alive, even though many witnesses, enough to convince judges paid to uphold the law, said she didn't want to live like that?

Why is it compassionate to her? Why is it compassionate to her family, who can never let go and accept her death while she still lays there, unable to take care of herself, communicate, think, or see? Especially when there's supposed to be an afterlife that's jim dandy on the other side?

Less, let's err on the side of life imprisonment in a broken body for someone who deserves not to be confined in such a way.

What do I learn from situations like this? People who fix their gazes solely upon the Bible and to Heaven are missing some very important clues.
