Holiday hijinx
Dec. 24th, 2005 06:05 pmSo, Mom and I are chillin' at the crib, we're watching Clay Pigeons on IFC, and I'm reading the news online, she's reading the Sacramento Bee.
Apparently, she was reading the obituaries. Suddenly she exclaims, "Well, Meleane Fakalata died."
Take a moment to consider how that last name might sound when pronounced out loud. And since my mother doesn't know this woman, her reasons for informing me of this death were less than noble.
Aside from having a last name that immature people like me cannot stifle giggles over, she appears to have been a delightful woman. Rest in Peace, Meleane. But damn, your last name is funny.
I sincerely hope, in the interest of fair play, that some of our English names sound suggestive and amusing from foreign perspectives.
