For those who don't listen to NPR's Fresh Air on a regular basis, and are interested in religion, check out this interview of Rev. William Sloane Coffin from 1985. He died on Wednesday, which, now that I've heard him interviewed, saddens me greatly. But, he made it for 81 years, which is a good run.

I love the distinction between the faithful who are fueled by God's power rather than God's love. That's so key.

"I have seen firsthand how Don relies upon our military commanders in the field and at the Pentagon to make decisions about how best to complete these missions."

That says quite a-not-a-lot, Mr. President.

Marine General Pace:
"People can question my judgement or his judgement. But they should never question the dedication, the patriotism and the work ethic of Secretary Rumsfeld."

With all due respect, General, they are questioning his judgement and not his patriotism. You can still be an utterly incompetent patriot, and you can still put in long hours being an asshole.

The Portsmouth Herald, via Seacoast Online, says there' s general who backs Rumsfeld. Sadly, he hasn't worked with Rumsfeld very much, serving in New Hampshire.

So far, the Generals criticizing Rumsfeld have close experience with Middle East hijinx, except General Riggs. It looks like he was involved in some sort of Info Tech area of the Army.
