Saturdays Report of my Mundane Existence
Sep. 9th, 2006 03:07 pmI finished watching the second season of Lost. Oy veh. It sets my brain roiling. But I'm hooked. I'll save my thoughts for sundry communities that I may check in on for my speculative propensities.
That brings us up to about 11am. I proceeded to bathe and get ready for a trip to the grocery store to acquire some ingredients for a Chinese dish I plan on preparing from a cookbook that
newbabel recommended to me. I prepared my list, dressed, and headed out the door.
{flashback}
It was Thursday and I was preparing to pick up
taogrl and head to the bay area when I noticed my right rear tire was flat. I had been out of town for a week, it was sitting unattended in the airport parking area for a week. Prior to that my car had been serviced. I wondered what caused the leak? Perhaps it was of a flukish variety. I made haste to the gas station, filled the tire, and went about my way. Thursday night and Friday morning demonstrated no change in tire status, so perhaps it was simply a momentary lapse of air related to the vehicle servicing experience.
{end flashback}
I gazed upon my right rear tire and noted that it had resumed its deflated ways from two days hence. Before going to the grocery store, I endeavored to end this madness. But am I the sort of lass to fix her own tire? Hell no! I grabbed a book and went to my dealer. I was reading
newbabel's "Speaking in Tongues" while I waited. I'm two stories into it. I like them both. I am enjoying the flow of the language. The second story I will have to talk to him about, though. I've got me some questions.
So, the tire repaired, I went to the store. I stopped at the comic joint near my food cooperative, and now I'm home, very hungry, and yet in the mood to drone on about my day's occurrences. A silly goose I am.
Oh, and some Tivo news that
ariedana might find interesting:
There's a dashboard widget available that can allow you to download files from your tivo to your mac once you get your Tivo networked again. It does work. The problem is nothing on a standard mac reads .Tivo files. I was told that ffmpegx could be used to convert the format, but that hasn't worked for me so far. However, this can benefit you should you a)need to save a file(s) for posterity and b)have a windows box you can watch them on at some point. Eventually, Tivo should make these files viewable on a Mac, but something foul and mysterious is keeping them from doing so. Perhaps a more vocal Mac-Tivo lobby is required. But I thought you might find this handy.
Now to make brunch...or something.
