Good morning, Gentle Readers!
Jan. 17th, 2007 08:39 amIt's Wednesday. We are halfway there. Whoa. Some of us may be living on a prayer. No need to take my hand, but we'll make it, I swear.
Yes, apparently I'm channelling Bon Jovi this morning.
This morning's quote on my Google homepage:
Love is not blind - it sees more, not less. But because it sees more, it is willing to see less.
- Rabbi Julius Gordon
Thank you, Rabbi.
I think I'm getting used to the cold. I keep feeling like it's warmer, but it's still reporting temperatures of 34 degrees. I also suspect something strange is going on with my garage door opener. It takes several attempts with the remote to close the doors when I leave in the morning, but it works fine at night. The only thing I can tell that is different is the temperature and the light. We'll see how that develops.
Bill Moyers' Genesis continues to be interesting. I read a few pages of it before I go to bed at night. Various folks from different yet extensive religious backgrounds are discussing the Cain and Abel story and the impact it has had on them. Also the story that God killed everyone but a few (Noah's Ark) to start over in the world. There are lots of interesting perspectives people take on this issue. Sadly, since I must go to work, I lack the time to delve on this further. Perhaps when I'm done with the book I'll gather up my thoughts.
The Morning Rave show on 107.9 was taken off the air the other day due to the death of the Sacramento woman who died from water intoxication. She drank a total of 2 gallons of water. According to MSNBC, the DJ team was fired. This story creeps me out because this is one of those things where clearly no one thought this through. It had to be ignorance, but here we have a situation where people were gathering for a fun event. It makes for fun radio entertainment, the contestants, having more time than money, were participating in what they thought was a low cost event for a cool gadget. So one little casual, goofy event. It's supposed to just take a few hours of your morning and off you go to talk about it with your friends. One careless morning and boom. It all falls apart. A family lost its mother. At least one other contestant started exhibiting symptoms of water intoxication. People lost their jobs. The whole thing seems so banal.
Well, off to work. Have a good day, everyone!
