[livejournal.com profile] big_raguand [livejournal.com profile] speakerwiggin have informed me of a documentary that has aired in the UK on channel 4 entitled the Great Global Warming Swindle.

The movie shows up in the bloglines stateside around the same time that a report comes out regarding Arctic Melting.

I've given the program a listen, but I'll have to give it another listen. I'm not in favor of alarmism, per se, butI'm also not in favor of shrill rebuttals that involve blaming media hype and crazed scientists eager for funding dollars. This argument seems funny to me in the united states, since we've had an administration who has cut funding for science. Especially since, although I don't have the numbers in front of me, I'm pretty certain that the individuals who profit from materials that cause man-made pollutants make a lot more than scientists do.

But, that said, I still have some listening to do. I'm including some resources that I plan on reviewing, and welcome any additional resources for those of you who are investigating the issue.

BBC also aired a rebuttal of the show, which I have yet to give a listen to.

NPR has a recording of a debate on the issue of Global Warming, which I also have yet to give a listen to. Participants include Richard Lindzen, Michael Crighton, Philip Stott, Brenda Ekwurzel, Gavin Schmidt, and Richard Sommerville. From what I gather, the opponents of Global Warming made a better case.

Wikipedia, aka "the intellectual hootenanny" (this term was inspired by [livejournal.com profile] bheansidhe, has an entry on this show. I've also tossed up Conservapedia's entry on the subject of Global Warming. They currently do not have an article on the Global Warming Swindle.

But that's all for now. Time for bed for me. Sleep well, all!

Alright, [livejournal.com profile] scarcrest says today is chock full of historic oddities on his Mental Nomad Show blog.

Well, I have one more noteworthy event.

Anne Freitas, staunch night-owl, gets up before 6am on a Saturday. That's just crazy.

And tiring. I'm ready to nap. But first, time to make some lunch and do some pre-travel laundry. Then tonight, it's Roller Derby viewing with [livejournal.com profile] taogrl, CC, and other friends.

My Sling Link Turbo arrived yesterday. Until it had arrived, I was using a really long cat V cable to get my Slingbox pro on the network.

Hooking up the slinklink was super easy. and everything came right up. My Series 3, My Xbox 360, and my Slingbox are attached to it.

Watching TV via the sling is great, however, the fun really starts when I stream my music collection from my desktop, via the Tivo, via slingbox player. All my songs are slowed down. It sounds pretty funny.
