Miscellany
Feb. 23rd, 2004 09:41 amDiet update:
I’m down 13 lbs as of this morning. Ye-haw! In phase II of this diet, with 3 splurge days mingled in, I’m averaging 2 lbs per week in weight loss. Still, it’s early in the game.
I must have eaten something rather bad a few days ago, because yesterday morning I had some sort of food poisoning-esque issue. I woke up with that discovery. Thank goodness I cannot remember my dreams when this happens.
I was nauseous, but there was nothing to vomit forth. As much as I hate vomiting, when you feel this way, it’s potentially a welcome relief. In this case, no relief was to be found. Nor did I have any of the legendary “Hershey squirts”. I just had extreme abdominal pain, and an overall feeling of intestinal malaise. I was able to start eating and holding down liquids 4 hours after the initial discovery.
My stomach still feels a little tender, but I can hold down all the usual foodies.
Other:
The Call of Cthulhu game was fun, yesterday. My character tried to set up the handsome-yet-unctuous Vinnie with an unattractive waitress whose father was a greasy spoon chef and whose was a Sea Devil. Matchmaker, matchmaker, make me a match. Find me a find, catch me a catch! At least that’s what I thought Vinnie was humming under his breath…
I think I finally pulled my head out of my arse and figured out how to do non-compressed DVD-*cough*-Backups without ruining the whole thing. We'll see tonight when I get home. If it works, I will have to confess that the solution was there all along, and I grossly overlooked it.
Platinumchefs.com is now owned by yours truly. It will be a site for my cooking club to catalog our recipes and adjustments, as well as keep track of our past dishes, etc. I just need to settle on a hosting provider (I'm thinking phpwebhosting.com, right now), and set to building the site. I want to do something that might be collaborative with the other cooking club members.
In that light, does anyone have any thoughts on WikiWikiWeb, or it's clones?
I may stop by Fry's tonight and buy Paintshop Pro 8. For the price it packs in all the features I'm looking for, but not at the high price of Photoshop. Any thoughts?
