weaktwosAh, the day is over at last. 'Twasn't my most favorite of days, but the gym beckons, and that, my friends, is a good thing.
Of course, today's buzz in the news comes from Secretary of Education, Rod Paige:
Feb. 24, 2004 | WASHINGTON (AP) -- Education Secretary Rod Paige says he chose poor words in calling the nation's largest teachers union a "terrorist organization," but he stands by his claim that the group uses "obstructionist scare tactics" in its fight over the nation's education law.
Paige told The Associated Press in an interview that he made the comment in jest.
"I was making what I now know was a bad joke; it was a poor choice of words," Paige said. "I was referencing the Washington-based organization in general, not teachers."
Way to go, Rod. Here's your sign.(Recall the "I'm Stupid" sign comedy sketch years back.) In what mode of reality do you want to call an organization that 2.7 million of our nations' educators a "terrorist organization"? Especially when the biggest peddler of scare tactics in this nation is the Homeland Security office.
Another recipient of the sign today goes to two women, disparaging some unknown third party for suggesting that while on a camping trip, they make burritos over say, hot dogs or hamburgers. She asked, with much disdain, "How do you make burritos when you're camping?"
If you can make hot dogs and hamburgers, you can make burritos. Hell, I've made salmon, rice and veggies in the great outdoors.
