It's late. I'm tired. I have just returned from a Poker game that lasted about 7 hours.

Today was a fairly low-key day. It began by being disturbed before 8am by my cats. They were vigorous in their play, as well as successful in waking me up. Disgusted, and still sleepy, I went back to sleep.

An hour and a half later, I resumed consciousness. The remainder of the morning featured:

-Achieving some standard of coherence.
-Bathing
-Returning some phonecalls
-Sending a letter to a seller on Ebay.

The Ebay Issue:
I was in the market for a cowbell and mount. Ebay had said cowbell and mount. I won the bid for 2.26. With 13 bucks more for shipping and handling. I gather that it cost 4 bucks to ship and 9 bucks to handle. Still, that was a bargain relative to 20 plus dollars in stores for similar products. The cowbell came in record time. Without the mount. The product, however, showed a mount in the photo, as well as entitling the product as "Cowbell W/ Mount". We'll see what the seller has to say about that!

I proceeded to practice the drums, working on limb independence, accents and more paradiddles within beats.

The City of Heroes Update:
Zarathustra is now up to 22. I logged in today long enough to get her trained to 22, sell off some enhancements, and test out how her new power worked out. I managed to acquire a power that's about as effective as "Whirlwind". I believe it's called "Power Push". It's main function/entertainment is to knock the enemy back quite a way. However, the damage is not exciting.

Next up on the agenda was Dinner and Poker. 12 people gathered to play poker for many hours. The first half of the session featured Limit Hold 'Em. I did poorly on this round. I managed to keep one buck out of a $20 buy-in. Round Two was "No Limit Hold 'Em" Also, it was tournament style. Given round one's performance, I played conservatively. I capitalized on a few good hands, and lasted down to the final four. The best four players are guaranteed winnings, 4th place breaking even for the night. Fortunately, I managed to persist down to the final two. I lost out on an "all in" bet. Still, second place prize was $70. So, I came ahead for the night. Rejoice.

Now to sleep.

"Limb independence"

As a musician and drum afficionado, I totally understand what you're talking about, but man is that a freaking funny phrase. It makes me think of the operation scene in Spider-Man 2. :)

Okay, since my specialties are Heavy Brass and Light Woodwinds, would you kitchen types mind explaining to the Mouth Breathing Trombonist what the Hell a 'Paradiddle' is? I get limb Independence- it's what enables one to heel and toe , ride a motorcycle well or haul up on a collective and twiddle a cyclic while ruddering, but Paradiddle? A futher subdivision of beats within a measure, so you're taling those 16ths and maybe chopping them down further into 32nds? Knuckle Draggers wanna know.

Paradiddle is one of the drum sticking rudaments. Where L= left handed beat on the snare and R= Right handed beat on the snare:

RLRR
or
LRLL

Is the basic paradiddle.

My teacher wants me to practice doing those paradiddles (which is old stuff) but then changing the pace again up the pace and fitting in another variation of the paradiddle:

RLRLRR
LRLRLL

Which we call 1/16th note triplets. It's not quite doubling up the pace, but it sure feels like it.
