Trader Joe's Grand Opening: October 22nd. Soon, I shall be able to walk to TJ's to acquire my assortment of edibles. I shall have to walk, for certain. Why? So I can live up to the "you can't buy what you can't carry" rule. Good sense, that is. Yes.

I listened to the cd of Cry Cry Cry last night. The band consists of Lucy Kaplanski, Richard Shindell, and Dar Williams. Absolutely gorgeous. Since I was being a smart assed photo pirate last night, I will need to listen to it more closely later.

Today is the 12th. Three more days 'til the Ides of October.

Phone conversation yesterday:

Baby Doc: I wanted to find out when you wanted to get together for your birthday dinner.
Me: Oh yes! That's right, I'm aging.

as dar might say...

You're not aging. You're aging well.

Why is it that as we grow older and stronger
The road signs point us adrift and make us afraid
Saying "You never can win," "Watch your back," "Where's your husband?"
Oh I don't like the signs that the signmakers made.

So I'm going to steal out with my paint and brushes
I'll change the directions, I'll hit every street
It's the Tinseltown scandal, the Robin Hood vandal
She goes out and steals the King's English
And in the morning you wake up and the signs point to you

They say
"I'm so glad that you finally made it here,"
"You thought nobody cared, but I did, I could tell,"
And "This is your year," and "It always starts here,"
And, "You're aging well."

Cry Cry Cry is the name of a really good song by Mazzy Star, one of my favorite bands. I like Dar Williams, but I don't know anyone else on that list. I'll look into them.

Shindell is a great fingerpicking guitarist, and a storytelling lyricist. His album, Courier, is a good sampler of his body of work, as well as an indication of his talents. You can find his stuff for certain on www.richardshindell.com, or Amazon.

My nearest TJs is having it's one-year anniversary in two weeks...there must be something about October openings? ;) Unfortunately mine is still a drive but still the closest grocery store to me...maybe one day I'll try walking it for fun, but those hills that seem so easy in a car might be my undoing...especially with bags to carry on the way back! ;)

Have a fab birthday on the 15th! :)

Thanks for the birthday wishes! I think I shall have a fairly low key birthday...but good nonetheless. The libra bbq party was last weekend. In one of my social groups, there were six librans adding a notch to their age-post. By the time I get around to seeing all the people who want to do something special for my birthday, I'll have protracted my celebration over a three week period. ;-)
