I now understand what people say about listening to classical music on a good sound system. Finding a coupon in my email this morning for Border's Books, I went over and bought a disc of Ravel's work by conducter Paavo Jarvi and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. I had brought along my classical music collection to assist me in choosing arrangements. Sure enough, Borders had none of them.

Bastards. So I got the CD with the cutest guy on the cover. Anyway, this disc is sounding quite lovely. It includes Pavane for a Dead Princess, La Valse, Empress of the Pagodas (one of my favorites), and Bolero. I've been wanting a copy of Bolero. Sure it's popular, but it's sexy. What can you expect from a 5 foot tall composer named Maurice?

Oddly, he never married, and seemed to love children. I'll leave it to [livejournal.com profile] scarcrest to find out how much he "loved" children.

I also purchased Mozart's Requiem, but I have yet to listen to it.

Today I purchased a pedometer at work. I lost my old one. This one is fairly nifty and easy to use. I walked 6089 steps today since 1pm when I acquired the pedometer. I guess the goal is to get up to 10,000 per day. This will include my workouts. It will be interesting to see how many steps I take during the course of my work day.

I'm thinking of taking a network job that came up at work. The down side: it's overtime exempt. The upside: I could come and go as I please, as long as I take care of business. And, being exempt means that for any errands I run leaving campus, I don't have to claim annual leave for that. On the one hand, I would hate to lose that overtime. On the other hand, I would learn something new (data networking in more detail than I currently do), and more flexibility. Hmmmm.

Just doing a quick look...

Wikipedia's entry mentions that he never married, but it adds that he "did have several long-running relationships" and that he was reported to frequent bordellos. It mentions nothing at all about children, so I don't know.

That doesn't set my Spidey-senses tingling. It sounds more like he was your basic tomcat.

Have you ever listened to The Fall Of The House Of Usher by The Allen Parsons Project? Fabulous! And you can't do better than Bach!
