May. 11th, 2002 12:44 pmI have returned from my morning's adventures.
The walk was fun. Good to people watch, and take a nice 3 mile walk. Ms Tao and I parked about a mile away, so we got a good 5 plus miles total walking this morning. Most pleasant.
Ms Tao and I got stuck behind one woman wearing shorts that were covered with diamond shaps, alternating with different shades ranging from white, light gray, gray, and black. As she walked, the shorts really caught your eye. We became hypnotized by her diamond covered ass. Fortunately, the Elvis impersonator broke the spell.
The next trip was to the Tower Cafe for french toast and other goodies.
Then, I learned to drive Ms Tao's manual transmission Jetta. We practiced at the parking lots at Sac State. I am now pretty good with first through third gear. Next time I'll venture the highways.
It was rather amusing, though. While we were in the parking lot, she would shout, "Stop!", simulating some road hazzard that I would need to stop immediately for. Then she would have me practice starting and stopping, as if I were at an intersection, having to make a turn, and speed up. The exercise went something like this:
Tao: "The light is green"
The car: rev clunk clunk
Me: "Shit"
Tao: "Bwahahahahha"
*restart car*
Tao: "Green"
Car: rev clunk clunk clunk
Me: "Awww, man!"
Tao: "Hahahahaha. So you're not perfect!!!"
Me: "Who the hell told you that? You were mislead."
*restart car*
Tao: "Green!"
Car: rev vroom...clunk clunk
Me: "Ahhhh!"
Tao: "You're thinking too hard. Sing a song while you drive."
Anyway, after a few rounds of "row your boat", finally I was able to let my reflexes deal with starting off without stalling her poor car.
Soon, I was starting and stopping all over the streets of Sac State with little incident. Although I did stall once at a stop sign while a state police officer was behind me.

Next time, try humming The Little Man in A Boat song while you drive. It may help with the MANUAL situation--and you may not care if you stall out, either...heh heh.;)
