I have my new car, yo.

And it's delightful!

So far, I'm getting 42mpg over 19 miles. The navigation system is a bit wonky, but that will require some reading up on.

The Itrip works fine with it, but I think it could be better. I'll compare once I get some cds in there. :-)

Glad you got it! I think you're the 3rd or 4th Prius owner I know in the past 6 months...crazy! I still love my Miata much too much to convert, but the Prius is pretty cool...do you have a Bluetooth phone so you can answer in the car speakers? hehe...

Wait, the Prius doesn't have an audio line in jack to plug in the iPod directly? How disappointing... ;)

Alas, no. But, it's a 6 cd am/fm cassette. So the cassette insert works fairly well.
True, not audiophile quality, but an improvement over the itrip. Especially for bay area trips. =)

i'm thinking about it--i was concerned about how the "non-traditional" elements would hold up, but the sales guy says there is an 8 year warranty. the gas mileage is certainly a plus

8 year warranty on what? the whole car, or just certain parts?

yeah, I don't know. I was tired of talking to car salesmen and I didn't ask what it covered. it's on the list for the next visit. so you like your new car??

After day 1, I'm loving it. It's so quiet. Lots of fun gadgets. I love the smart key feature. (this means as long as I have the key in my pocket, it senses me and once I place my hand on the handle, the care door opens.) So far, I've driven it 46 miles, and the fuel meter hasn't even budged.

The navigation system is a little wonky...I'll get into that later.

But it's very spacious, and drives wonderfully.

I test drove the Civic Hybrid this afternoon--it drives ok, but it's a little "plain"--I was hoping that I could get some interesting stuff. The guy says the Accord has the interesting stuff, but they didn't ahve one in stock to drive. So I walked across the street and looked at the Prius. I like it a lot better than the Honda. Lots more room and all sorts of interesting stuff (as you said).

I didn't like the touch screen thing--it seemed a little distracting.

So How are you liking it after 4 or 5 days?

I"m still loving it, and need to make time for a nice, leisurely drive out somewhere soon. The touch screen, I got used to rather quickly. But then again, I'm a computer dork. :-) I filled it up for the first time since I bought it. My gas guage was reading a quarter tank full. I filled up just over 8 gallons of gass. That meant I had at least, based on 45 mpg, at least 180 miles left to go on that tank of gas. I'm having way too much fun trying to figure out optimal ways to accellerate and coast in order to maximize my average mpg. Cruise control is neat; this is my first ever cruise control vehicle. I love the steering wheel controls, and the GPS is working nicely on places I have already been to. :-)

The engine is quite responsive, so when you accellerate, it smoothly gets me to where I need to go when I merge on the freeway. However, you accellerate at the expense of gas mileage savings. ;-)

So far, the ride has been smooth and pleasurable, relative to my corolla, of course.
