I'm through the first disc of 24.

Kim Bauer got a job at the CTU?? I can't believe she hasn't died in a freak homework accident, yet. I mean seriously, her luck was ASS. However, I'm four episodes into season 3, and she's actually out of trouble. It seems Jack's plan of hiring her on at the CTU and sticking her with a desk job was brilliant. So far.

And everyone had to look 3 years older!

Racial issues are definitely being toyed with. Pres. Palmer has a white girlfriend now, and the villain is the stereotypical Mexican drug lord, with the fiery latina wife whose father appears not to be the genetic source of her temper.

Jack became a drug addict in order to maintain is "cover" for taking down Salazar, the evil drug lord's brother. Well, I think they are both evil druglords. A family business.

Anyway, if 24 ever gains a cult following, we'll have to develop an alternate phrase that is equivalent to Star Trek's "Red Shirts". In this case, CTU IT Analyst is the working phrase. They have a lot of turnover.



Anyhow, last night was a long day at work. You'd never guess how much a pain in the ass ATMs were.

Dunno about the equivalent term for Red Shirts, but at work we've decided that Bauer's heated "I'm running out of time!" is this generation's "Beam me up, Scotty."

Having her at CTU keeps her "safer" than wandering the streets, where she can't help but murder people or be attacked by various wildlife.

Hehe...there's a drinking game for "24", and I think one of the rules is that you drain your drink whenever Jack says "damn it!" Kiefer Sutherland heard about this, and made sure that in the next episode he taped, he said "damn it!" about 3 times in a row.

I would contend that "running out of time" is more on par with, "I don't have enough power, cap'n!".

Bingo. But she does get involved with a cute little CTU agent, who Jack promptly alienates, beats up, and renders unconscious.That's going to go over well during holiday dinners when it becomes time to regale each other with fun family stories.
