CNN and the Republicans seem to be on the warpath on John Kerry. He made a comment:
“You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework, you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”

I saw this news item earlier this afternoon( on Halloween). Well, perhaps it was the late morning.

Now, I have just returned from work. I arrived at work at 2:30pm on Halloween, I arrived to my hotel room at 4am on November 1st. CNN still was covering the Kerry flap. Yes, this was a poor choice of words. Although, I know of a lot of folks who went the enlisted route were not well-educated. Kerry wasn't casting aspersions on soldiers' bravery, though. While people say things that are not the most diplomatic, this really isn't a news issue. But Republicans are whining up a storm. Annoying.

But really, if you don't study hard and you don't do your homework, you can "get stuck" as President.

So yes. Nearly 14 hours at work. I'm tired. Though wired. I suppose I should get to bed.

frankly, being a soldier I can see the truth of his statements. It often amazes me how anything gets done in the Army due to the astounding and often immobilizing stupidity of the members within. These demotivators express exactly how I feel.

And if you do go to school and study hard you could still end up as a flip-floppin flap jack. LOL! I like John Kerry but damn, he needs to think more before talking... especially now when the Republicans are looking for anything they can get to divert attention from the mess they've made of this country.

As a former member of the United States Navy, I can tell you that the military is chock full of people who are as dumb as a bag full of doorknobs. Sadly, the military is a perfect place for people who are just smart enough to follow orders, but not smart enough to realize how likely they are to get killed.

Do people forget that the way to avoid the draft in the 60's was to go to school? that was why the average age of the killed was 19.

Didn't Kerry fight in the war? Is he disparaging himself?

Having a bad morning. Cats are well. Max is noisy and Sasha is just generally pissed. All is peaceable though.

I'm sorry to hear you're having a bad morning. Poor Sascha. I wonder what his malfunction is.

Max is always noisy. Well, I'll be there to retrieve them in a few days. And you can think of a cool place for me to take you to dinner. :-)

You know, verbal faux pas happen, but Kerry shouldn't apologize for the wrong offense. I'm seeing quotes from Bush that just overreact to the notion that our troops our uneducated. That doesn't mean they are stupid or lacking in courage or generosity or nobility. But I think the statistics would bear true that those who are in the enlisted ranks of the military lack formal education.

The Democrats need to just smack the Republicans down. It's far more insulting to the troops to send them to an ill-conceived war. The Republicans are world class whiners; the Democrats need to remind us of real issues.

Well, there you have it. As I recall, a number of people entered the military because they needed some discipline and a career. This is why we don't see too many wealthy, educated kids in the military.

I know Kerry didn't mean it to come out the way Bush is trying to play it. It was just a poor choice of words, something W should be extremely familiar with, and the Republicans are going to milk it for all it's worth... because they've got nothing else.

He definitely should not apologize for it because it's being stretched way beyond the original meaning. Hopefully the public will see though these little games and what they are trying to do will blow up on them.
