Ahhh, a nice, relaxing Saturday. I love weekends like these. So far I haven't accomplished a great deal that's practical. Then again, that was not quite my intent.

I got in a little city of heroes, chatted with [livejournal.com profile] newbabel, ran an errand, and took care of ordering some groceries.

Elk Grove folks, you might be interested in this, if you haven't already tried it. The Raley's at Elk Grove and Franklin Boulevard is one of two Raley's to participate in the "E-cart" program. Essentially, you can order your groceries online, and arrange for a time to pick them up. I ordered groceries this morning at 11am, and I will pick them up at 4:30pm today.

I ordered some meat, some dairy, some produce, and some other staples. Key to me will be to find out how the produce is---whether they picked out some good stuff. There is a $5 service charge, but it appears to be waved for the first time. So, I'll keep you posted about the experience to find out if it's worth it or not. Certainly if you have time at a break at work to make an online order, it saves you time after work from having to mill through the grocery store. The pickup time is a half hour window.

I stumbled upon this site/radio show yesterday: Reg's Coffee House
It's a nice way to listen to some interesting music. Some of the artists that are played end up on Austin City Limits, as well. I listed to the playlist from January 7th's show, and I was rather pleased.

In other news, it was cold here in Elk Grove. This is not California weather. This is not why we buy overpriced homes here! If we're starting to get northwest or northeast type weather, what's next? Mid-west style tornados? Pish-posh!

My series 2 tivo was recording my season pass requests on the wrong channels, even though it insisted it was recording the shows I wanted. I ended up with spanish tv, or other stations I seldom watch. I noticed some of my season passes appeared to convert to comcast's lineup, and yet didn't quite. So, I will try deleting the season passes and re-establish them and see if that works. I did some test recordings today and they seemed to work out okay.

I'm finally getting around to watching Garrisson Keillor's New Year's special. I watched the first 20 minutes and then had to go. They got some really cute fellas playing music on this show.

Hmm...my series 1 DirecTivo Sony SAT-T60 is still going strong since Nov 2003...the only problem was when Smallville changed channels I missed the premiere, since I didn't realize the Season Pass wouldn't pick it up...I suffer a bit with space limitations since it's only 35 hrs, and it would be so nice to output to computer by installing a NIC, maybe with wifi, but since I'm sure I'll want to go HD in a few years, I don't really want to invest much in this unit...however, talk on the Tivo forums and your experience has not inspired me to go the Comcast route just to keep Tivo... :/

No kidding, this is definitely not the reason CA homes are overpriced! I wrapped my outside pipes today after testing my sprinkler system that everything was indeed okay. So far only a few plants have suffered, and they look like they'll come back okay after I've pruned off the frost damage. I set my furnace overnight to 52F so it won't go on while I'm snug in my down comforter, but every night this week it has kicked on around 5am...crazy! Stay warm!

Actually, the Series 3 with the Cable Cards has been going just great for me. It's the series 2 with the digital cable box that has caused me some issues. I think I have it under control, now. The first problem was because comcast didn't put the serial number in their system, so my digital cable box stopped working. Otherwise, when it comes to the hd and s3, I'm quite happy.
