I found the Iowa Caucus results rather satisfying. However, I arrived too late to see the speeches and...dumbass me...I forgot to tivo them. I shall have to correct that.
In other news, it's still stormy here. Various cities outside of Sacramento are contemplating distributing sandbags. Hopefully they won't be needed. I loves me some rain, but not that much rain.

I hope everyone is having a delightful day, and gearing up for the next task at hand. All this celebration gives us a chance to pause and reflect on things we like to change and the things we need to change.
Of course the biggest, most everpresent change is to retrain ourselves to write the accurate year on our checks and legal documents. Good luck to us all on that!

Merry Christmas!
Oh, I'm tired.
But things are good. My brother was up and at 'em at 8am, and I got up to chat with him and made some tea and coffee. Then I set about to making the sweet potato casserole for today's larger family gathering that we'll leave for in a few hours.
I could stand a nap.
Last night went well. No family strife. I caught my mother trying to recount seedier moments in our family history to Siobhan. I'm fairly sure she's heard it before. So I broke it up and we opened presents. All was well; we got some neat stuff. Mom bought me a backup camera for my car. That should be fun to install.
John loves A Christmas Story as much, if not more, than I do. We've been watching bits of that over the past day.
He loves his Christmas music, too. He's a big cutie.
Everyone seemed to love my dinner yesterday. It all worked fabulously.
I hope you're all having a wonderful day!

I'm cooking the Christmas Eve dinner, so I'm about to head into the kitchen. I hope everyone is having a marvelous day!
The menu:
Prime Rib
Baked Potato
Stuffed Mushrooms
brussels sprouts
yorkshire pudding
Dessert
Pear Crisp
Lemon Meringue Pie
The pie is done. The stuffed mushrooms I will prep now to bake after the prime rib. The Prime rib goes into at 3:30, along with the potatoes. Hopefully I'll have time to relax at some point. Sleep kinda sucked hard last night.
The gifts for the family are under the tree, my brother and sister in law will be late. So dinner will be served later.

Watching a Scot get a bunch of Frenchies to shape up is fun, though.

Books: His Dark Materials
I'm done with book 2 of the series. Wow. I'm pretty impressed with the twists and turns Pullman is dragging the reader through.
I saw the Golden Compass movie last week. My opinion: visually appealing, but they horked up the story. Likely to avoid a war of a simliar nature in reality.
Oooo-weeee, children! Pullman is p-i-s-s-e-d at organized religion. Heh, should I call that "O-faith"? Hmmmm. His ire is particularly evident in a character's final words in book 2.

Three Day Weekends are wonderful
I was able to take care of a lot of little things around the house this weekend, but I still have an assortment of tasks to do before my bro and sis-in-law arrive.
But I am feeling more pleased about my domicile. And I have yet to engage in a big give-away project. Which doesn't necessarily need to happen before Christmas. I just now have a plan.
Yes, I'm still hooked on Kindle reviews. Still so many people reviewing a product they don't own. Controversial products are fun. But the trend is there. Those who do own it tend to love it, except people who lack dexterous grace and end up pressing every kindle button imaginable when they pick up the device. Or people with strange issues like button fetishes. "Sony would make better buttons on their device."
Uh, yeah.
So go buy a Sony if you want better buttons that send frissons of pleasure through your body with every button press, freak. Maybe the Power Exchange will have a dedicated floor for you and your other friends who enjoy "button play".
Meanwhile, the rest of the Kindle users will use their device to read.
