Incidentally, it's worth noting that a barley shortage is not the only thing contributing to the rise the the price of beer, not only in Germany, but world wide - the other thing going is is that there is a shortage of hops due to ...dare I say it...bizarre weather and drought problems. You can likely expect to see the cost of beer increase 15% in the US. And it may be hard to get home brew supplies, as major manufacturers are buying up stock from all the major distributors.
