I tested out Librarything after joining it over a year ago.

Today I received the Cuecat Scan Gun that Librarything sells at a reasonable price. It works fantastically. Any book you own that has a barcode, it will pick up in most places and add to your library rather quickly. I did run into some exceptions. That is to say, I discovered how some smaller RPG publishers have poorly printed barcodes on their books.

Yes, I'm talking to you, publishers of the Hero System. None of your sourceboks read correctly according to Amazon.com or the Library of effin' Congress.

Things to look out for: don't have your librarything account open on another computer. If you're a computer dork like me, this will happen. It slows down the scan and upload process on Librarything.

Of course, I'm going to have to go back and add tags to all the books I uploaded. You can add tags as you go, but I was too lazy for that.

I wonder if you can import your library? I have done mine through www.collectorz.com and it would be nifty to just upload it.

Wow, I looked into similar software with a scanner thing before and it was like $200!
