Feb. 22nd, 2003 08:37 pmI was saddened to hear of Jesica Santillan's situation in the news. As soon as I heard of her complications, I knew she was pretty much going to die, and she did. The heart-lung machine is a fickle mistress. She suffered from a similar disease that Thomas had and also died from.
If you care to know more about what she suffered from, read up on Restrictive Cardiomyopathy.
In other news, today wasn't a bad day. Played a game called Feng Shui with friends.
Before making it to the game, however, I had one of those experiences which gives one pause. I narrowly avoided getting hit by a car that sun out of control two car lengths in front of me. This was one of those situations where failure to be totally attentive to the road would have put me at high risk. Had I been not paying attention, like fiddling with the radio, I might have been toast. The driver was extremely lucky, too. She spun out across three lanes of traffic when there was a gap where no other car would get in her way. Other onlookers behind me stopped and pulled over to help her. She didn't collide with anything to severely smash her up, and by the time I could have traversed the lanes and pull over, I would have been too far away, so I kept going.
Really, to live a long life is to be a recipient of steady stream of good fortune.
