What is swirling about my noggin this morning?

First off, I seem to have become fond of lying in bed and typing on my laptop. What I should be doing is jumping out of bed, get dressed and work out for a while until I become a sweaty mass of calorie burning action. After that, I need to do some house chores.

Instead, I'm reading livejournal, and dealing with Maximus, my amorous cat who insists on laying on my chest and sucking on my earlobe. Moral of the story? Maximus is getting his testicles removed soon.

Zealotry. I am fascinated by the fact that we are all on the same planet, witnessing, for the most part, the same variety of phenomena. We all see similar experiences. We might see different weather patterns, we have different politicians. But regardless of the empirical data we recieve, or maybe in addition to, we can have such different beliefs and therefore "realities".

I walk through my life thinking that whatever happens to me is part of God's Plan. Such notions of an unseen force having plans for me does not comfort me in the least. Yet this is a source of comfort for some. I guess it is quite handy to have a unseen being you can place all the accountability on. "This isn't my fault, a loving and benevolent god is telling me I need to impose myself on others' lives, or bomb that clinic, or invade that country. Those voices couldn't possibly be in my head!"

And yet despite this little issue of spirituality-gone-south, they are still basically human. They are riddled with insecurity, crave to be loved, full of desires. It is so strange to me.

Does everyone who sucks on your earlobes get their testicles removed?

I'm also fascinateed with zealotry of any form, political, spiritual, social, whatever. Blind faith in anything is a concept that's just so far outside of my experience that I really can't grasp it at all.

No. Only those whose breath smells like cat food.

Human males are allowed to approach the lobes.
