Today wasn't a bad day at work, though there's increased enforcement and paranoia regarding internet use. So, that means less surfing for me, and, if you haven't noticed, no posting on livejournal during the friggin' day.

It peeves me, for, if you want employees to linger around and work harder, you'll let them play harder, too.

Their loss.

I worked out today, it felt great, and did wonders for my back. I did cardio plus abs, plus weights to work on the back.

After ye olde gym, I went to Binky's house for Poker night with zee boyz. We took turns playing Tony Hawke's 2x. The young vintner's girlfriend hasn't shown up in a while. I guess she doesn't enjoy poker. Which makes me the sole source of estrogen during the evening.

Tonight's poker experience was magical. I put in $20, for I had no smaller bills, and came away with $72. I could do no wrong. Even when playing recklessly. When whoever was dealer called for wild cards, I would almost always get a bunch of wild cards with which to make a decent hand. I managed to get several straights, a flush, several four of a kinds, several 5 of a kinds. It was ludicrous. The young vintner still owes me twelve bucks. So, in my poker jar, I have 150 smackers in my trusty poker jar, thirty of which composes my original investment into the game. Not bad. Not bad at all.

After the game ended, Bink and I talked for a while about numerous issues, among them being the waiting game he is playing with Stanford Medical. Hopefully this week he shall know whether they will take his case.

Now for beddums.

Today was an odd day. Odd, but good.

I sent feedback to a senior VP regarding what I thought was a shoddy aspect of our internet site. My feedback was long and detailed, as the system provided inaccurate information. I explained that it wastes the customer's time, as well as creating an adversarial environment for customer service reps who have to clean up the mess this internet application causes. I told him as an employee, I knew exactly what was happening, but as a customer, I found it unacceptable. Today, he called me and responded to my feedback personally, advising me that they are looking into solving the problem and he would update me. He's a senior veep, I'm a spunky analyst, and he'll be updating me. Yeah.

Then I reported to my director about my trip last week, and oulined several opportunities for improvement, identified the strengths of the employees there, and he ate that all up, too. And he ran his strategies by me, and updated me on his progress to resolve the issues I spoke of. Wild stuff.

I came in early, I worked late, I skipped the gym tonight. I bought a new toy. It's a dvd player that plays mp3s, vcds, normal cds, photo cds. All for 68 bucks at Walmart. That's a nifty little deal. It's not the most glorious piece of equipment, but it does a good job. Now I don't have to sit at my computer to watch vcds that Binky makes for me on occasion.

I borrowed Sexy Beast from Bink last night. Odd yet fun film. Kingsley was indeed a treat to watch in action. Dude, that was Ghandi! Ghandi became a gangster! Civil disobedience, my ass!

Now, for some zonkage. The Thursday night golf tradition with the work crew is being resurrected. Wee hah!
