Traffic

Traffic was h-e-double hockey sticks today. It was a full moon in broad daylight. Cars were making strange, quick, potentially dangerous maneuvers all around me. Perhaps I’m now a little more paranoid about driving due to recently being rear-ended, afraid that at any moment I could be involved in a more vicious accident. I’ve been feeling a little too close to my fellow idiot. I feel like more stupid, hasty choices are being made on the road.

The road stupidity—wait, I feel a word creation coming on—“roadiot”. Yes, the term for stupid people on the road.

There was a roadiot missing in action today. I’m worried about him or her. Eerily stopped in the left lane of the Arden-Garden Expressway was a black Nissan. No hazard lights, no driver. The window was rolled down on the driver side. Traffic was angrily maneuvering around the hapless, driverless vehicle. After I let the road rage course through my profanity ridden lips, I wondered if perhaps the driver of said vehicle wasn’t in possession of Aliens and therefore being vigorously prodded and probed. As far as I’m concerned, that’s the only valid reason for leaving a car like that unattended in the road.

Work was a bit of a long day. Lots of crap to sift through. In my rather accurate opinion, however, I managed it quite nicely.

I arrived home at around 8pm, fed the cats, loved them up, goofed around. Now I wish to bang upon me drums. Sorry, neighbors.

I hope the folks on the southeast coast are doing well, in light of hurricane Isabel. It's supposed to be a nasty one.

Situations like these put the Insurance Industry at attention. My company is mobilizing claims personal. It's an exciting time for those who are on the catastrophe teams. After the disaster hits, they will be on site, setting up a temporary installation with network connectivity, computers, phones, etc. They will work 12 hour days, 7 days a week adjusting claims. For non-military employees, this is as close to the military experience as they get. Plus, it's massive amounts of overtime.
