Merry Christmas, everyone!

I have just returned from my mom's abode. It was a pleasant day, though busy. I am in bed, and currently Sascha has curled up on my chest for some snuggle time. Maximus is at my feet, grooming for his nightly nap.

Here's a synopsis:

  1. woke up around 9am, bathed, dressed.
  2. took off for La Bou, acquired croissants for mum and I.
  3. phoned friends on the drive out to mum's house.
  4. arrived at mum's house, was immediately put to work.
  5. finished wrapping presents.
  6. proceeded to make four pies. Mum apparently wanted as many pies as family members in the house. Ironic note: we never got around to eating those pies tonight.
  7. Mum proceeds to pull a slab of beef out of the fridge. I haven't seen meat that big since watching a Flintstone's cartoon. All she says, as she carries the Prime Rib is, "It's two people per bone, never forget it." Apparently, when she ordered the roast, she assumed one person per rib. Needless to say, we'll be eating Prime Rib for a while.
  8. after the roast was placed in the oven, I got roped into a strange stereo-related escapade that involved me setting up a new stereo mom had purchased. The good news is that it worked.
  9. It was a rather jovial night with my brother and sister in law, who are still very much in love and expressive to each other after 10 years of marriage. Hopefully such happiness is not a ruse. As much as I love my independence, it would be mighty nice if I could find someone I loved enough to marry.
  10. my brother, a huge Lord of the Rings Fan, was tickled by my replica of the ring of power.
  11. I scored a lot of jewelry this year. Fun. Especially since I never think to buy any for myself.
  12. After gifts, dinner, and conversation, I came home in nasty fog. Nasty. I'm so glad the roads were predominantly free of deranged drivers

And that catches us up. Now I'm watching "A Christmas Story" and preparing for slumber. I wonder why I woke up. Damn those second winds.

Hah. The "queen mother of all cuss words" scene just came on,..I love that scene.

I find it immensely amusing that my mind at 2am is far more enthusiastic about delegating tasks for my morning self to do when I awaken.

Of course, when I woke up in the morning, I was so cuddly and still sleepy that I ended up languishing in bed and nodding off periodically.

So much for assembling that shelf I bought a few weeks back. However, I did enjoy the extra snoozing.

Shortly, I shall be off to spend the afternoon with my aunts and uncles.

I hope everyone has a relaxing and joyful holiday.

The day with the extended family was most pleasant. My cousin Phil brought his delightful daughter, Rebecca, and his wife Tanya along. Rebecca is adorable, and Phil is quite the adoring father. Rebecca, full of personality, was also quite tired due to the holiday frolic, so she was a bit cranky, too. But Phil would comfort her by holding her such that she could lay her head on his shoulder, and he would gently rub and pat her back to calm her. And I noticed that as he gently patted her, she would gently pat him back on his upper arm.

Simply adorable.

I feel like I might be coming down with something. There's a dark force at work on the back of my throat. Onset of illness, I rebuke you!

I was not near my cell phone while I was at the family gathering. I received a darling little voicemail from a sexy sounding Scotsman. Now that's the way all voicemails should sound. ;-)

Now I'm home, and though I was tired after spending some time at my mom's house with the family, I got a wind of the second order, and assembled my shelf, changed the sheets, threw some laundry in, and will shortly begin folding said laundry. I shall fold such laundry while I watch Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring.

I think I shall essaye to re read the trilogy this week.

Tomorrow I shall have John and Siobhan, and me Ma over for dinner. I will endeavor to make a Risotto and Wild Mushroom Casserole, with some salad. If you will recall, one of my previous posts, gentle reader, we learned the lesson of two people per rib on the Prime Rib Roast. Ergo, they shall likely be bringing some leftover prime rib to accompany our dinner.
