What price tax cuts for a booming economy?

For those who don't get Bill Maher's blog, here's a story about a shortage of armor and equipment for our soliders in Iraq.

I wonder if the amount of money those family members saved in tax cuts equaled what they had to spend on buying equipment for their soldiers.

When I read that, I thought about my friend princessbunny - her husband is in the Air Force (Special Ops, I think), and he's on some super-secret deployment at the moment...and they don't have enough food. Literally. They're getting one meal a day, because they're short on rations. And it's not like their current mission is sitting around pushing papers - nope, it's quite physical. But for whatever reason, the Air Force approved 1 MRE per day for this trip.

Absolutely ridiculous.
